Stone, stucco and terracotta / Sculpture works from Prague gardensPrague City Gallery - Troja chateau,Prague 7May 3, 2017 - October 29, 2017
An integral part of the historical Prague gardens was their artistic decoration and small architecture. Sculptures and decorations shared stories or drew attention to ther position or hobbies of the owner. These artworks, for decades exposed to the whims of the weather, gradually disappeared from the gardens. Either it was irretrievably destroyed, or it had to be replaced by copies. The exhibition at the Troja Chateau presents a selection of sculptures from the Vrtbovska garden, from the Cibulka landscape park, preserved fragments of the Early Baroque decoration of the garden of the Troja Castle, the Kinsky Garden and the busts from the Portheimka Summer Palace. The name of the exhibition refers to the popular garden decoration materials, the fragmentary and raw state of the exhibits, which are stored in the depository and are usually not restored for exhibition purposes. |
