Victor Vasarely (April 9, 1906 Pécsi, Hungary - March 15, 1997 Annet-sur-Marne, France) is a world famous Hungarian-French painter, drawer, graphic designer, sculptor and author of numerous realizations in applied art and architecture is considered the father of op-art, one of the fundamental artistic trends of the late fifties and first half of the sixties of the last century. He spent part of his childhood in Piešťany and Budapest, where he began to study medicine in 1925. In 1927, however, he finished his studies and began to devote himself to fine arts. From 1928, he studied at the graphic school of Sándor Bortnyik, which was called the Budapest Bauhaus. During his studies he focused mainly on graphic design and typography. In 1930 he moved to Paris. Eight years later he painted the image of Zebra, who anticipated his later work, but found his definitive style only around 1947. In 1954 he wrote the famous Yellow Manifest, in which he defended the role of the optical illusion in art. He then named his work, influenced by postulates published in this manifesto, as plastic kinetics (plastic cinétique). In 1959 he patented his artistic technique (unités plastique), which was based on specific work with precisely defined geometric forms. Using this method, he began to create a series of arts that offered countless combinations. In 1965, he was named "father of op-art" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His work is in the possession of the most distinguished world galleries and museums. The exhibition was prepared by curator Mgr.
