Jaroslav Róna 1997–2017The Stone Bell House - Prague City Gallery, Staroměstské nám. 13, Prague 1June 23, 2017 - December 31, 2017
Jaroslav Róna (* 1957) joined the wider cultural community as a co-founder of the most important artistic association of the generation of the eighties, the group of the Tvrdohlavých. Already within her framework, Róna was profiled as a distinctive original personality, out of the current trends, which was convincingly demonstrated by his first large independent exhibition, organized in 1997 by the GHMP in the Stone Bell House. Today - twenty years later - we are returning to Rona's work in the same exhibition space. The new exhibition, which is a follow-up to the works of 1997, includes sculpture and painting work of the last twenty years. Through video installations, the audience will also approach author's realizations into the public space, some of which attract an extraordinary interest from the public, and they can provoke even strong opinion polls and reactions. Let us recall, for example, the discussion around the monument of Franz Kafka in Prague (2003) or the riding monument of Markrabete Jošt in Brno (2015). |
