Hidden landscape in the worldModern Art Gallery in Hradec Králové, Velké náměstí 139, Hradec KrálovéOctober 18, 2019 - February 2, 2020
The world is the home of man, which is an integral part of it. Finding his own relationship to the nature is one of the central themes and at present from the point of view of environmental situation it is still more and more current topic of Fine Arts. Art has the power to open a world previously unseen, free in relation to the reality. The nature seen and captured by the artist creates an image of the landscape that allows an inner reflection and a deep experience in a symbolic level. Walking through the deep forest, glances into a darkened tree, paths leading through fields, mountain clearings in the summer heat and frozen streams, cottages in the country at the dusk or dawn, and some other everyday reality captured in the works of several generations of artists who were born, lived or came to work to the Eagle Mountains and their foothills. The local mountainous landscape with clear air, became a permanent source of inspiration from the 1870s, and carried on throughout the 20th century, when it has gradually become one of the most striking regions firmly associated with the Czech landscape painting. The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate the transformation and the diversity of visual depictions of the landscape of the Eagle Mountains from the beginning of the 20th century to the present – from the initial perception of the landscape as a static object in the realistic depiction to the creation of nature becoming an inseparable part of it. The landscape is our mirror, our image. At the time when man can feel his goal of life, especially in himself, and he becomes an enemy of nature due to his irresponsibility, surely this artistic message has a serious impact. |
