In the villa: Eva Eisler, Peter DemekThe Moravian Gallery in Brno - Jurkovič HouseMay 24, 2019 - April 26, 2020
The artist and eminent figure in Czech design Eva Eisler has been known to surprise visitors to each of her exhibitions with something new. And in the Jurkovič House it will not be any different. Together with the sculptor Peter Demek they will present a selection of works of mostly geometrical forms to counterpoint the typical ornamentation in the oeuvre of Dušan Jurkovič. In her work Eva Eisler fuses architecture, design and art. Her output is typified by minimalist shapes, high-grade materials and perfect workmanship. The same can be said of the sculptor Peter Demek, with whom she is in charge of the K.O.V Concept - Object - Meaning studio at the Prague Academy of Art, Architecture and Design. Their joint exhibit presents a selection of work primarily in geometric forms, as a counterpoint to the typical ornamentalism in the work of Dušan Jurkovič. "The principal message of the exhibition consists of catalysing dialogue between the clearly stated art form of architecture and spatial sculptural components created on different principles. The exhibition is a good opportunity to become familiar with creative arts and crafts methods in ornamental architecture. And to juxtapose these two forms," explains Peter Demek, commenting on the concept of the exhibition. Curator: Ondřej Chrobák |
