This exhibition of photographs by Jan Lukas (1915-2006) marks the 100th Anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. It documents some of the historical events of our new country from the First Republic through the two totalitarian regimes, the Nazi and the communist one, all the way to the euphoria of the post Velvet Revolution period of the 1990s – and it does so in the form of a personal visual story. Thanks to his talent, diligence, curiosity and also luck, Jan Lukas had created a remarkable body of work which maps in captivating images over six decades of our history.
