Meet Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk – the first Czechoslovak president.
Every Czech learn about him at school, we are all familiar with the expression Tatíček (Daddy) Masaryk – the first Czechoslovak president and the founder of Czechoslovakia. We have seen period portraits and photographs. Masaryk is under our skin. We think we “know” one of our greatest historical figures. But is it so? Do we know what kind of person he was?
Masaryk is a phenomenon; a historical phenomenon, a phenomenon of literally revolutionary changes. The exhibition will introduces his personal life, his public life and his “life after life”. It shows Masaryk as a son, father, husband, a publicly active person and a man with a rich personal life. As part of this exhibition, three small temporary exhibitions will run, which will present the famous Manuscripts of Dvůr Králové and Zelená hora (15. 9.–2. 10. 2017), the Hilsner Affair (1. 12. 2017–31. 1. 2018) and the Prague Castle Photographic Archives with attractive photographs from 1918–1933 (1. 12. 2017–31. 1. 2018).
