The planned retrospective exhibition of the post-conceptual photographer, Jiří Thýn (*1977), follows up on his exhibition project Archetypes, Space, Abstraction which took place in the Prague City Gallery exactly ten years ago on the second floor of the Old Town Hall. At that time, Jiří Thýn chose four sculptures by the unique Czech Cubist sculptor, Otto Gutfreund, as archetypes. Through them, in his non-commissioned works he came to discover yet another photographic space, the third dimension. The author views the medium of photography from the contemporary position in which, compared to analogue photography, the autonomy of the digital image is asserted. This year, Jiří Thýn will focus on an artistic dialogue with the well-known Czech sculptor, Hana Wichterlová (1903–1990).
