http://www.czechcentres.cz/en/galerie-praha/the-story-of-czech-design-from-cubism-to-xxi-centu/ Czech design is based on high-quality arts and crafts work, Czech do-it-yourself and fine traditional material. It has a long-time tradition as well as worldwide acclaim.
Czech Centres prepared this exhibition on the occasion of celebrating the Czechoslovakia’s centenary. The Story of Czech Design: From Cubism to the 21 Century exhibition follows on the publication „Design in the Czech Lands 1900 – 2000“ which was published by Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague in cooperation with publishing house Academia. The publication describes development of design in the Czech lands and introduces a variety of design-oriented people, associations, manufacturers and other institutions. The publication allows to gain insight into their destinies through objects which create cultural and civilizational memory and identity of the Czech lands. The exhibition is supplemented with a collection of Czech design icons – objects which clearly have demonstrated their timeless quality as they are still produced or the production was renewed.
