Group 42 which has been existing from1942 till 1948 was the most important grouping of young artists and writers of the forties. Group program accentuated by words of famous states of theoretic Jindřich chalupecký "mythology of modern life alias the world, we live in. Besides the photographer Miroslav Hák, five poets (Ivan Blatný, jiřina Hauková, Josef kainar, Jiří Kolář, Jan Hanč- and two theoretics (except Chalupecký, also Jiří Kotalík) the group was formed by seven painters (František Gross, František Hudeček, Jan Kotík, Kamil Lhoták, Jan Smetana, Karel Souček, Bohumír Matal) and one sculptor Ladislav Zívr. All the artists are in collections of Gavu Cheb represented by important art pieces from the Group period and also from period before its emergence, which will be represented in a minor exposition.
