In the 1960s, many distinctive artistic activities took place in the
north Bohemian town of Liberec which, to this day, elicit welldeserved
admiration. Besides the architecture designed by the
SIAL studio (the Ještěd Hill hotel and TV transmitter) and the local
Naïve Theatre with its Studio Ypsilon, there was the Studio of
Fine Art Photography that associated 25 photographers of every
imaginable specialization. The Studio was initiated by Vilém
Boháč and its founding members were Jan Kabíček, Jan Pikous,
Jiří Plátek, Čestmír Krátký and Ladislav Postupa. They shared an
interest in photography experimentation; some of the experiments
were realized in the form of large-scale interior installations.
